How does being Hapa apply to your work?
I’ve always loved learning about how my Asian ancestors used different methods of Eastern Medicine to heal and fortify themselves. I learned that Crystal Energy is used in the ancient art of Feng Shui that balances the flow of Chi (yin and yang) energy in the home, as well as other inspiring things, like my grandma always wearing jade for good energy, prosperity, protection, and luck and also the handing down of beautifully symbolic family jewelry heirlooms.
How long have you been an artist/creator?
Almost a year! My first anniversary will be January 1st, 2020.
What's your favorite gift you've ever received or given?
I LOVE giving Malas as gifts! They are so intimate, the crystal properties in each one are always customized to the energy of the person receiving them. Recently, I gave my brother (a new father of twin baby boys) a Mala Bracelet, and he says it’s giving him more vitality, endurance, and motivation to balance work and the kids! I was so grateful that I could do that for him.
What are your favorite holiday traditions?
Our Family Christmas Tree is full of so many beautiful memories, I love adorning it with my mama while we listen to her old Bing Crosby record!
What are your favorite pieces of your work?
I love each piece I make, I think for me it’s so important to put my heart and soul love into every piece.
